Having established his reputation for quality engineering and expertise in the manufacture of Burrell 6” scale Compound Steam Traction Engines, Dave Page has responded to popular demand by producing his 6” scale Single cylinder Agricultural Engine.

With the benefit of his own experience, a small team of skilled staff, and the support of a few dedicated associates, Dave has designed his engine by scaling down the best features of the full size 8HP Burrell Agricultural Engine.

FEATURES AND DIMENSIONS
Weighing in at approximately 1 ½ tonnes and measuring 9’ in length, 4’6” wide and 6’ in height, the resulting delightful little engine offers the traditional features of the unsprung front axle, worm-wheel and chain steering, six spoke flywheel, and 10 spoke front wheel. Traditionally the Agricultural Engine would not need to move far from the Farm, where water would be readily available, with the result that a belly tank is not fitted. The 6” model holds approx 119 litres of water, allowing for plenty of steaming on the Rally field.

ENGINEERING
Built to the exacting standards of the Compound Engine, the Agricultural Engine features Page Engineering’s tried and tested CE approved boiler, which is fully welded, fitted with 29 tubes, and can operate to a working pressure of 200PSI. Traditional hardwood lagging is fitted around the boiler before the cladding is added and secured with brass bands. The Engine has two gears, transmission brakes, and a counterbalanced crankshaft. The motion is nickel plated. The traditional cast cylinder block features a spun cast cylinder liner, a 4 1/2“ piston and 6” stroke.

WHEELS
Although traditionally an Agricultural Engine would have iron cleats on its wheels (with the option of steel spuds for extra grip on rough land) this Engine comes with extruded rubber tyres for a more comfortable ride.

PAINTING AND LIVERY
The Engine is painted with traditional paints in Burrell colours, requiring two coats of primer, 3 of undercoat and 4 of top coat. Each coat is flatted out before the next is added, and the final coat is carefully varnished. The lines, in black, red and yellow, are added, scaled down to the correct proportion. Although by tradition the Burrell Agricultural Engine is painted green with brown wheels, Page Engineering customises each of its engines according to the requirements of the customer, hence this gorgeous example in crimson lake (www.craftmasterpaints.co.uk).

FOR YOUR PLEASURE
We are confident that this charming little Steam Engine satisfies ALL the emotional and recreational needs of the Steam enthusiast and will give immense pleasure to everybody that sees it. It is easily transported to the Showground or Rally field on a trailer towed by any suitable car and can be cleaned and maintained by one person ( although it provides hours of polishing pleasure for all the family).
